Short answer: no. ChatGPT can write the lyrics, but it can't sing them or give you a track you can play. Paste them below and hear the song.

No, not as audio. As of October 2026, ChatGPT can't make music you can play: it writes lyrics, suggests chord progressions and plans a song's structure, but it can't sing your words or give you a finished track. To hear the song, paste ChatGPT's lyrics into a dedicated AI song generator.
| Task | ChatGPT | Gemini app | ToSong |
|---|---|---|---|
| Write lyrics | Yes: verses, choruses and hooks for any topic or occasion | Yes, written from your prompt | Writes them from a description, or sings yours word for word |
| Chords and structure | Yes, as text: progressions, sections and tempo ideas | Sections such as verses and choruses can be set in the prompt | Built into the arrangement it produces |
| Sung vocals | No. Voice mode is made for conversation, not singing | Yes, with Google's Lyria music models | A sung or rapped lead vocal, male or female |
| Instruments and beat | No recorded instruments; at most a MIDI file or synthesized tones | Yes, or instrumental only | A full arrangement in the genre you choose, or instrumental only |
| Track length | No track | 30 seconds, or up to about three minutes with Lyria 3 Pro | A complete song; the model sets the length |
| A song file to play and share | No | Download or share link; every track carries an inaudible SynthID watermark | Two versions per generation to compare and download |
ChatGPT is a strong writing partner. Ask for a birthday song for your sister, a breakup ballad or a chant for your team, and it returns lyrics with verses, a chorus and a bridge, often with notes on mood and tempo. What you get back is text: no singer and no track to download, however you phrase the request.
The gap is known. In October 2025, The Information reported that OpenAI was building a tool to generate music from text and audio prompts. Nothing like it has shipped in ChatGPT since. When a user asked on the OpenAI forum for a native music feature in August 2026, OpenAI support replied in September that it would pass the request along and had no schedule to share.
Not in a way you can use for a song. ChatGPT Voice is built for spoken conversation. In the GPT-4o system card, OpenAI wrote that it instructed Advanced Voice Mode not to sing at all during its limited alpha and built filters to block outputs containing music. A user who tested Voice in August 2026 reported on the OpenAI forum that it sometimes came close to a tune but did not reliably follow pitch and timing. It cannot save the result as a track either.
With its file and code tools, ChatGPT can write a MIDI file or a short script that synthesizes tones into a WAV file. That is handy for sketching a chord progression to open in music software, but the sound is plain synthesized notes with no voice, closer to a ringtone demo than a song.
Google's Gemini app can make music. Since February 2026 it turns a prompt or a photo into a 30-second track with vocals or an instrumental, writing the lyrics for you, and in March 2026 Google added Lyria 3 Pro for tracks of up to about three minutes. Google's own pages differ on whether full-length tracks need a paid Google AI plan, every track carries an inaudible SynthID watermark, and Google's launch post does not say whether you may use the tracks commercially. If you want your exact ChatGPT lyrics sung in two takes, with commercial rights on paid plans, a dedicated song generator is the shorter path.

Three steps, from a chat window to a track you can play.
Ask for the song you need and say who it is for, the occasion and the mood. Ask it to label sections such as [Verse] and [Chorus] and to keep lines short enough to sing. The prompt further down does this for you.
Paste the lyrics into the box at the top of this page. Use My Lyrics is already on, so your words are sung as written. Put the genre and mood, for example acoustic pop with a warm female vocal, in the Style field behind the sliders button next to Use My Lyrics.
Each generation sings the same lyrics two ways. Keep the take that fits, or change the style and run it again. Download the song from your account to share it or play it for the person it's for.
Lyrics written to be read tend to run long and uneven. Paste this into ChatGPT, fill in the brackets, and the result drops straight into the generator.
Write song lyrics for [who the song is for] about [the occasion or story]. Work in these details: [names, places, inside jokes]. Mood: [for example warm and funny]. Genre: [for example acoustic pop]. Use this structure: [Verse], [Chorus], [Verse], [Chorus], [Bridge], [Chorus]. Label every section in square brackets. Keep lines short and singable, about 6 to 10 syllables each, and make the chorus easy to repeat. Reply with the lyrics only. After them, add one line starting with "Style:" that describes the genre, mood and vocal in under 120 characters.
Copy the Style line into the style field, delete it from the lyrics, then generate.
Paste what ChatGPT wrote, add a style, and get two versions of your song with vocals and a full arrangement.
