What Is Suno v6?

Suno v6 is the sixth generation of Suno’s AI music model, launched on September 9, 2026. In Suno’s words, it “understands more of the language and building blocks musicians use, from vocals, instrumentation and structure to mood, references and the overall feel of a song.”

It ships as three models instead of one. v6 is the flagship, which Suno calls reliable and precise. v6 Wild is built for exploration and comes back less predictable and more varied. v6 Mini is the faster, more efficient version that Suno opens to free accounts.

The launch retired every earlier model, including v5.5. Suno named Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe as partners on the release.

What Changed from Suno v5.5 to v6

The upgrade replaced the whole lineup rather than adding one more option to it.

v5.5 and older are retired
Suno retired every model before v6. Songs made earlier stay in your Suno library, while new generations and new iterations of old songs use the v6 family.
A wider musical vocabulary
Suno built v6 around the terms musicians use for a track: vocals, instrumentation, structure, mood and references. Those are the details worth putting in your prompt.
New editing tools in Suno's app
Suno’s app added section edits, mashups and prompts that mix text, audio, images and video. ToSong focuses on the text side: a description or your own lyrics, plus style controls.

Suno v6 Prompting Tips

Write the brief the way a musician would describe the track. These habits work with all three versions.

Describe the feel, not only the genre
"Indie pop" gives the model a category. "Late-night indie pop, hazy and nostalgic, like driving home after a party" gives it a mood to aim for.
Name the instruments and the voice
List two or three instruments and the vocal you want, such as warm female vocal, brushed drums and upright bass. Pick Male or Female under Vocals when it matters to you.
Keep your words with lyrics mode
In description mode, v6 treats your text as a brief and writes its own lyrics. Turn on Use My Lyrics when every line has to be sung as you wrote it.
Mark the song's structure
Tags like [Verse], [Chorus] and [Bridge] in your lyrics tell the model where the song should build, lift and resolve.
Steer away with Exclude styles
In lyrics mode, if a take comes out dull or muffled, ask for a crisp, bright mix in the style field and list what to avoid under Exclude styles in the create page’s advanced options.
Switch to Wild when takes sound alike
When v6 keeps returning safe versions of the same idea, run the prompt again on Creative, which uses v6 Wild, for a less predictable reading.
